Crowders Mountain
Hi All,
I hope this note finds everyone doing well.
Janice and I are home and doing well. We drove from SC to KY on 12-29, about seven hours and then the next day from KY to MI, about 11 hours. Way fun. We did get to hang out with mom and Dave for an evening and Dave took us out to the lodge for dinner. Thanks again Dave. :) On our way from KY we got to hang out with John and Marcia for a couple hours in Zeeland. They were in MI visiting their families. It was very cool to see them and Janice finally got to meet them. A little bit of wine and a lot of laughter.
A couple of days before we left SC Janice and I got a chance to go climbing at Crowders Mtn in NC. About a two hour drive from her parents place. The day before we went to a climbing gym in Fountain Inn, SC. The name was Climbin' High. The lady was very cool. It costs $5 an hour per person to climb. We paid for the first hour and then Celia the owner came in and started talking to us. She asked if I wanted to put up a route, so I put up two. We stayed another one and a half hours. When we went to pay she would not let us and she gave us each a free t-shirt. Very cool lady. She hook us up with a young man named Phil who works at the gym. And the next day we all went out to Crowders.
The pictures below are of Janice coming up a very cool 5.8 trad we put up. With Phil belaying below.
This is of me leading up the same 5.8.
The next one is a beautiful picture of me belaying Phil up a 5.10+ roof. The sunshine in this picture was awsome. At times I was climbing with my shirt off.
The next one is of Phil trying to help the old guy get thru the crux (hardest moves on a climb) moves on the roof.
I hope to have a video of me trying the roof soon.
Peace Out,
Geoff
