Thanksgiving at The Red

I got to go to The Red this last weekend. What a blast!! I met up with some friends from Traverse City and we climbed all weekend. I came so close to onsiting my first 5.11a called Unknown 1 at volunteer Wall. And then again so close to red pointing it.
This first picture is my first climb I have tried at The Motherlode. It was called Injured Reserve and was a 5.11a as well. This was a true 11a and had a real 11a move on it. I finally made the move but was so pumped I could not finish it.

This next photo is the moon from the parking lot of The Lode.

This is me on the start of Unknown 1.

This last one is a friend Mike taking a wipper on Injured Reserve. This photo is featured on Yourclimbing.com. You can get to it if you look at my links.

What a great weekend. The weather was great. The last two times I have been down for Thanksgiving I had to drive thru a blizzard. Our last day there we had 64 degrees and sunny. I can not wait to get back down there.
Peace,
Geoff

Almost Done

Here are a few more photos of the wall at CASMAN.

It is almost done. I am so excited. A lot of the students are really getting into it as well.

I hope everyone can come up sometime and give it a try. We are having a grand openning on 12/13. Please come up and join us if you are around.

Peace,
Geoff

Climbing Wall at CASMAN

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to drop a line to tell everyone the bouldering wall at CASMAN is almost done.

Here are some pictures of some of the construction.

My co-workers Matt Somsel and Chad Folkersma have done a lot of work, with help from some students as well. If it wasn't for Matt this project would have been a lot more difficult then it was. Matt's dad Wink who has about 40 years of construction experience was also a big help. Many others have contributed to the project as well. Thank you all.

Now I don't have to drive over an hour to climb. YEA!!! Also starting Monday I will be teaching a bouldering class for nine weeks. Yes folks, I do get paid for this job. I sure do like my job, most days.

Peace Out everyone and if you are in Manistee please stop by and give it a try.

Geoff
