Hualaipai Mountains and Boys and Girls Club

Hi All,
Wow, on the internet twice in a 3 day period.
The first weekend Geoff was in Kingman he volunteered to go with Janice on an overnight camping trip the Kingman BLM and AZ Game and Fish organized to take some young people out into the back country of AZ.

We set up mist nets across a small stream to catch bats to show the kids the difference in some of the bats in the region. It is very delicate work because you do not want to injure the bats.

Here are most of the kids checking out one of the bats.

If you enlarge this picture you can see the bat was not to thrilled about being handled.

We also set out small mammal traps to try and show some of the mice in the area. We only caught one though.

Last weekend Janice, Geoff and Pico went up to the Hualaipai Mountains to go hiking. It is about a half hour drive for us to get into the Hualaipais.

Good resting spot.

Summit pictures.

Lots of climbing potential.

This is a Claret Cup Cactus.

A Manzanita. The reddish bark is so beautiful.

More Claret Cup Cactus.

New Mexico Locust.

It was so cool. We are looking forward to more exploring up there. Geoff has been in contact with a person who knows the climbing scene in these mountains well. We are looking forward to this as well.

We hope this finds everyone doing well.

Peace and Love,
Geoff and Janice

Living in Kingman

Hi All,
It has been a long time. Geoff is finally in Kingman. It was a long trip driving the rental truck from Manistee, pulling Janice's car on a trailer. The last day was a epic 18 hour drive day. He was so happy to see Janice and the beautiful house we will be staying in.
We are all unpacked and settling in very nicely.

Here are some pictures of a female humming bird that ran into our window. Geoff thought it was dead. When he started to pick it up to dispose of the body she started blinking and sticking her tongue out. Geoff propped her up on his hand and she sat there for about 2 or 3 minutes and then flew off.

There will be more pictures of our hiking trip to the Hualapai Mountains and the over night Boys and Girls Club trip later.

We hope everyone is well.

Peace and Love,
Geoff and Janice.
