Molly

Hi All,
We hope this note finds you doing well.
Janice and Geoff had to make a hard decision today. Molly has been very sick and we decided to put her down today. Geoff had Molly for 10 years and Janice had her for almost 2 years. It is a tough day.
I hope you enjoy the photos. This is how we will remember her.

Peace and Love,
Geoff and Janice

Climb-a-Thon

Hi All,
With the help of students from CASMAN, some kids from the community and other community members Geoff held a climb-a-thon to raise money for the Central Asia Institute. (CAI) CAI was founded by Greg Mortenson. He may be better known for his book Three Cups of Tea. It is about the adventures of getting CAI started. Great book and it can explain the institute way better then Geoff can. Check out the web site: www.ikat.org
Here are some pictures.

We raised just over $350. It was great fun
Peace and Love,
Geoff and Janice.

2009

Hi All,
It has been busy these first few weeks back after the holiday break, as we are sure it has been for everyone. We hope the New Year is treating everyone well.
Janice, Molly, Pico and Geoff headed down to South Carolina again this break and had a great time. We met up with Geoff's parents iN TN And headed to Greenville, SC and celebrated Christmas with Janice's parents. They finally all got a chance to meet. We all had a good time and hung out and ate great food. After Pat and Dave headed back to KY we stayed in SC to explore a little. We found some great hiking places and went back to Crowders Mountain to find more climbing.
The first hike we did was up Table Rock.

On the hike up and down there are some beautiful water falls.

Here are some shots of the summit.

It was cloudy and rainy that day. We lucked out with some of the views we saw that day. The clouds liked to come and just hang in the hills, blocking all the views.

A few days later we headed up to Crowders Mountain.

This is Geoff gearing up for a 5.8 trad climb called Spring Fling. The climb is right behind Geoff more or less. It starts to the right of the arete and then follows it up.

This is Geoff placing the piece of gear that kept him from decking (hitting the ground) when he fell. The route actually started about 8 feet to the right. Good catch Janice.

Here is Janice repelling down the climb. This was her first time she had ever cleaned the anchor of the climb and repelled down by herself.

We did a couple other climbs that day and Janice climbed her first 5.10c called Master Beta.

The next day we did some hiking around Ceaser's Head State Park.

One of the many waterfalls in the park.

After hiking around to the top of the falls this is one of the sights.

This is Janice and Pico on the suspension bridge over the falls.

Pico and Geoff hanging out.

The next day we headed back up to Crowders Mountain.

This is a great chimney called Caterpillar. It was a 5.7 trad climb.

Janice belaying Geoff.

Nice face Geoff.

From inside the chimney.

This is the climb right next to it called Energy Czar. Another 5.10c.

Molly hanging out with Linus.

On the way home to Michigan. Geoff has passed this sign a thousand times on the way to The Red in KY. Had to take a picture.

The weather was great during the trip. On Christmas Eve day it was almost 75 degrees and sunny. We all sat out on the deck and drank beer for a couple hours. It was a nice break from the snow and cold of MI.

We hope this message finds everyone doing well.

Peace and Love,
Janice and Geoff
