Violence
Hi All,
Some commentary.
Violence leads to violence leads to violence. If we continue to use violence to solve problems there will always be war. If we cannot see and dream and work for all of us living in peace, we will continue to head for the end of the world. Most major religions have this end of the world prophecy. I say it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. We have free will. We can choose to make war, we can choose to make love, and we can choose to turn the other cheek. Why do we need to fight? What are we so afraid of? Death? Are we so afraid of death that we have to kill or support the killing and maiming of other people many of them women and children? Most religions have an afterlife that is supposed to be better then life here on earth. So, what are we afraid of? I am not a Christian or anything else and do not fear death. I view it the same way I view going on a backpacking trip into the mountains or dessert. The unknown. It is exciting and I have a hint of apprehension, like butterflies in your stomach, but not afraid. I do not wish for death but am excited to see what is on the other side.
Don't get me wrong if someone or something attacks me or the people I love directly I will fight and kill to protect them. But the line is drawn for me at attacking others.
With all this said, there is one more thing. I am not a black and white person. I have ideas I live my life by to be a good person but do not view the world so narrowly as to think my view and ideas are all encompassing. I keep my eyes, ears and heart open and hope others do the same. If we could all do this I can see a world were we can all live in peace. This is not the path we are going down now but peace is there if we want it.
Peace and Love,
Geoff
