2007
Do you believe it is 2007? It is hard for me to believe. I will be 40 years old this year. The time has gone by so fast. It seems like only a few short years ago I was graduating from high school, only weeks ago going thru college, only days ago taking my first trip to the Red in KY. It is amazing how fast it is moving. It has been a great ride so far and I am looking forward to the next few years, weeks and days.
I am sitting here watching Meet the Press. Can you say depressing. I really don't think most of these people care if the issues in Iraq get better or not. I think most of them, maybe not all, would like it to stay the same or get worse. The reason why is because it is far easier for them to shift power to win the election in two years. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so. Should I be this cynical at 39? If anyone can help me answer this question, let me know.
I also read an interesting theory this weekend. I don't know what my idea is on it but it is just frightening that it could be true. Bush has two more years and has many people around him that want war with Iran. Someone has this idea that Israel may strike Iran, with US military support just before the election. What a cluster fuck that would be. Could you imagine? My good friend Fuller has a t-shirt that says, "fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity." Tell me what you think.
I started my break off hanging out with mom and Dave to celebrate the birth of christ. I am still not sure why it is we celebrate his birth at this time of year but...... It was fun hanging with them. Christmas Eve I went to church and listened to some beautiful singing and a rather disturbing sermon. The music was worth it though.
Then I got to go down to MO and AR over winter break. I hung out with good friends Todd and Angie. The day after I got there Todd, Fuller, Pico and I went down to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (HCR) in AR to climb. The first day we spent bouldering. The picture below is of Fuller and I doing just that.
The photo below is the next day walking up to Insanity Cliffs climbing area. HCR is a working ranch so there are horses, dogs, goats, sheep and many other types of animals running around.
The next photo is Fuller belaying me up a 4 star 5.10b climb called Emotional Content. A wonderful climb.
Molly stayed with Angie and cause a little trouble, breaking into some treats while Angie was at work. Butthead Molly.
"New Years" Eve was a lot of fun. A whole lot of us met at Angie and Todd's for a post Big Smith party and then headed to the Blue Note to welcome the new year with Big Smith. They are a great bluegrass band from the MO area. It was way fun.
I hope everyone had a great time like I did over there personal holiday season. I met some great new friends and got to know others I did not have the chance to in the past. What more can you ask for?
Peace,
Geoff
