Oct. at the RED

Hi Anyone,
I got to spend last weekend with a good friend climbing at the Red in KY. What a great weekend. I took a personal day on Friday and headed out Thursday afternoon. Just before I left I got to go to Tehani's special friend day. I was thrilled that Tehani asked me to go. It starts out with the 1st through 4th grades all singing a couple of songs for everyone. Then we go into the classroom and do a craft project. Ours was tracing our hands, cutting them out and then gluing them on another paper over each other. Then Tehani showed me around her classroom and we ate a few cookies. It was great fun.

Then off to the Red. I got to get on two climbs that I have always wanted to try. One was a 5.11a trad(you place your protection) climb that I top roped. I do want to try it some day but I am not ready for that just yet. The other was Where Lizards Dare a 5.9+ trad route.

I took my first fall onto Trad gear even though it was only a 50 foot screamer. No, I'm just kidding it was only about a foot. But for me it kept me scared the whole time. I did not make it up until later on top rope after a friend Alan lead it. One day I will be back to try again. It was great fun and it almost made me shit so what more can you ask for in a climb?

The picture above is me, Michelle and my good friend Fuller. This was taken at the top of Bed Time for Bonzo a 5.6 trad route. I had great fun with everyone. Thanks very much.

Peace,
Geoff
